Last Post

Unfortunately, due to Union regulations and our current labour situation, teachers are not allowed to post, comment or upload photos on their blogs. With this said, this will be my last post. :(

As Teachers we need to stand united.

Hopefully an agreement will be made soon, but always remember, no matter what you hear. Teachers ALWAYS, want and fight for the best interest of their students. Let's pray that together we can humbly come together and resolve these issues not just for teachers but for our students, children and the generations to come.

Thanks so much for your support.

Teaching Pencil Grip

Every Kindergarten student needs to learn the correct pencil grip and some learn faster than others. There are many fine motor activities to further develop the finger pinching muscles to help with pencil grasp. Here is a great tool to help your child with developing the correct pencil grip.

A is for Apples

Each week in Kindergarten we celebrate a letter of the alphabet and this week was the letter "A". This may seem old school, but some things just need to stay in the classroom. I love when the kids get to practice their printing skills, sorting skills, cutting skills and building skills. Learning a letter of the alphabet is key especially if you can include the kids different senses. So today we made applesauce!!! It was absolutely delicious!!!!
"A" is for applesauce
Ms. Jacques hard at work peeling those apples

mmmmmm cinnamon

Don't forget the brown sugar

Let the mixing begin

Adding our ingredients

Opps a little too much

Our applesauce taster cups

Taste testers

Taking my last bite

All done!

I think the applesauce was a hit, hopefully that helps these Kindies remember the letter "A".
Here's to another great week in the jungle!!!!!!

Name Games

In Kindergarten we spend a lot of time reading, making, writing, drawing, tracing, printing and colouring our names. Check out what we did this week. First I wrote each students name with pencil on a large piece of construction paper. (you don't want the paper too thin) Then I traced over the printing with glue. Once the names dried over night the kids used a variety of colours to rub over their names! You could also keep the glued original and place another piece of paper over top and rub their names too!

What do you think????

Window Painting

Today was a gorgeous day so we decided to do some painting. In each container I added paint, dish soap and water to make a fun solution that we could paint on windows!!!!! I could have let these Kindies do this for the rest of the day, they loved it! Who would have thought?

First week check!

With the first week complete I thought I would share a game I came up with to help students identify and match letters that are in their name. With this activity students also develop fine motor skills by pinching and pressing on the clothes pin. Check them out below!

We also developed out fine motor cutting skills by using scissors and play dough!
